William "Bill" H. Weisheit, III

William “Bill” H. Weisheit, III, 74, of Selkirk, passed away on January 9, 2026.

Born on September 8, 1951, in Albany, he was the son of the late William H. Weisheit, Jr. and Roberta (Dohnken) Weisheit. He is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Weisheit; his son, Eric William Weisheit (Danielle Caprio); brothers Richard Sr. (Karen), Douglas (the late Sharon), and Ronald (Marie) Weisheit; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.

Bill was a proud graduate of Bethlehem Central High School, Class of 1969. He dedicated 47 years of his life to the small engines and power equipment industry, beginning his career at Hilchie’s Hardware in 1971. Alongside his wife Rose, Bill co-founded Weisheit Engine Works, Inc. in Glenmont in April 1985. In September 2005, he faced the challenge of being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Despite this, he continued to serve the community until selling the business in 2018 due to health concerns.

A dedicated member of the Selkirk Fire Department #2, Glenmont, Bill served for 26 years as fire police. He also generously contributed to the community by managing the Goldfish Booth at the Glenmont Fireman’s Fair for 40 years. His commitment extended to helping with Eric’s Boy Scout Troop 81 in Selkirk, where he was actively involved in fundraising efforts and supported Eric’s Eagle Scout project.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 16, from 4 to 7 PM at Applebee Funeral Home, located at 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, January 17, at 10 AM, followed by burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Selkirk.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Selkirk Fire Department, PO Box 5, Selkirk, NY 12158, or to Delmar-Bethlehem EMS, PO Box 508, Delmar, NY 12054.
