Veva Marie Bangert, 98, passed away at home on June 20, 2026, due to pancreatic cancer. Born May 26, 1928 on the family farm in Wellsboro, PA, Veva was the daughter of Tracy and Harriet Wilson. For those who knew her, she was resourceful, productive, and active until the very end. She cherished her friends and was always ready to go out and play at a moment’s notice.
Veva loved sewing, swimming, and going to the Y. She would readily share her knowledge and enthusiastically pursued new activities. In 2015, She received a Lifetime Achievement Award for her motivational encouragement which inspired others to live life to its fullest when they might have otherwise given up.
Upon High School graduation, she joined her brother in Albany, NY where she attended Albany Business School and met her beloved husband, Bob, of 52 years who predeceased her. She was especially proud of advocating for his medical care and pioneering nutritional needs for kidney transplant patients. With her by his side, he lived nearly 30 years on a transplanted kidney.
Veva is survived by her sons Carl Bangert (Eileen) and Roy Bangert (Marion), four grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. Three siblings (Hubert, Jesse, Shirley) pre deceased her.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr Pak Caulfield. His guidance and compassion coupled with the enduring palliative care from The Community Hospice team made her wishes to remain at home for her entire life possible. As did the dedicated ongoing generosity of friends and neighbors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, www.kidney.org or to the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Ave. Delmar, NY 12054
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, June 25, 2026 at the Delmar Reformed Church, 386 Delaware Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am in the Church. A luncheon will follow.
The world is a gentler, richer place for having had Veva in it – and a lesser one without her.
