Terrence “Terry” Cady Tripp, of Ravena, New York, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on April 15, 2026. Born on April 10, 1954, in Watertown, New York, Terry was predeceased by his mother, Betsy Cady Millington; his father, Dr. Henry Stimson Tripp; his brother, James S. Tripp (Shelly); and his stepfather, Thomas Millington.
Terry was a dedicated family man who taught all who knew him the value of hard work, perseverance, and acceptance of all people. He spent countless hours at his children’s softball games, wrestling matches, and football games; he especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s swimming, golfing, and trap-shooting events.
Terry loved being in nature, enjoying activities such as fishing, trapping, chopping wood, hiking, golfing, playing Monopoly, and cards. He also enjoyed running with his children and completed several half and full marathons.
Terry retired from the Town of Bethlehem in 2015 after a 37-year career as Chief Operator at the town’s Wastewater Treatment Plant. He felt a deep sense of responsibility and care for the Hudson River. Above all, Terry adored his wife of 49 years, Janet. Together, they spent weekends and summers for the past 34 years at their camp in Croghan, New York.
He is survived by his wife, Janet A. Tripp; sisters Jeanne Kring (James) and Karin Kuder (Jack); brother Timothy Tripp (Debbie); sons Terrence “Hank” Tripp (Alice) and Daniel Tripp (Caitlyn); daughters Colleen Tripp and Elizabeth Tripp (Jacob); grandchildren Jason Zeliph Jr., Thomas Zeliph, Jack Zeliph, Donja Tripp, Duncan Tripp, Adelyn Tripp, Owen Tripp, and Mahtvey Gold; along with many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank all family, friends, neighbors, as well as the doctors, nurses, and caregivers from NYOH and Community Hospice, for their love and support.
The family will receive visitors on Sunday, April 19, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave. Delmar.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Monday, April 20, 2026 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl. Delmar.
