Spc. Corey Pieper

COPPERAS COVE, TX - Spc. Corey K. Pieper, 26, a native of Cedar Hill, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012 from injuries sustained while doing something he loved. Born in Albany on December 21, 1985, he was the loving son of Stephen and Donna (Holliday) Pieper of Cedar Hill. Corey was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas after enlisting with the U.S. Army in January 2010 as a multiple rocket systems crew member. He was assigned to Battery B, First Battalion, 21st Field Artillery Regiment, 41st Fires Brigade, First Cavalry Division since August 2011. His awards and decorations include the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon. In addition to his parents, Corey is survived by his wife, Sarah (Dwyer) Pieper; sister, Carley DeGenova; and brother, Zach Pieper. He was also the uncle of Taylor, Ryan and Brooke Norton and grandson of Mary Lou and Bob DeLude, Ruth Sekanic and Eldred Holliday. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, April 29th from 5 to 8 pm at the Bethlehem Community Church, 201 Elm Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, April 30th at the Church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
