Sigbjorn S. Eilertsen, age 88, died May 20, 2018. Born in Brooklyn, NY, Sigbjorn was the son of the late Sigbjorn Eilertsen Sr. and Anna Eilertsen. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. After working as a stock trader on Wall Street, he brought the NASDAQ trading operations to First Albany Corporation in 1971 where he built a successful career. He was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother and uncle. He volunteered for many years as a manager and coach for the Bethlehem Tomboys softball organization. He also assisted his wife with volunteer work at the former Child's Nursing Home in Albany. He was predeceased by this wife of 52 years, Marjorie Pointer Eilertsen, in 2014. He is survived by their daughter Marjorie Eilertsen Brown, son-in-law Mark and grandchildren Mark Jr., Elizabeth and Matthew. He is also survived by his brother John C. Eilertsen, Sr. of Pittsford, NY and by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd, Latham, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to call at Our Lady of the Assumption before Mass from 9 A.M. until 10 A.M. on May 29. Interment will follow the Mass in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Sigbjorn requested that those who wish may make donations to a veterans organization of their choosing.
