Richard C. Lenseth, born on November 11, 1927, in Staten Island, NY, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2026.
He moved to Slingerlands, NY, in 1954, where he built a life surrounded by family and friends. Richard was the son of Frances Connor and Louis Lenseth and was preceded in death by his wife, Maureen and brothers Arthur and Kenneth. He is survived by his brother, Robert (Susan) Lenseth and his children, Patricia Siciliano, Nancy (Peter) Siciliano, Richard L. (Kerry) Lenseth, Kathleen (Paul) Gutman, Steven (Patti) Lenseth, and Barbara (Eric) Burkart. He was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren and had the joy of 35 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by Kathryn (George) Simpson, his former wife and mother of his children. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Richard served during World War II, embodying the spirit of service and dedication. He pursued a successful career as a carpenter and later as a window project manager and estimator for A+E Architectural as well as J L Chandler Company, known for his craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Richard was an avid golfer and a longstanding member of Normanside Country Club, where he cherished many memorable moments on the course including three holes in one. He also found joy in creating beautiful furniture with his own hands, showcasing his love for woodworking. His leadership skills were evident as he served as a former commander of the American Legion Post 1040 in Delmar, NY. Richard was one of the top plasma donors for the local Red Cross and received notable recognition for his dedication and generosity.
Viewing hours will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Applebee Funeral Home in Delmar, followed by a memorial service. Interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
Richard's legacy of love, creativity, and service will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
