Richard Burke Haverly

DELMAR - Richard (Dick) Burke Haverly, Sr., 87, died on February 9, 2018 at Daughters of Sarah Senior Community. Dick was born in Albany, NY on April 25, 1930 and was a lifelong resident of Delmar, NY and a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School. A U.S. Navy veteran, he honorably served his country during the Korean War. Dick was Vice President and Delmar branch manager of Key Bank prior to his retirement. Dick was a very active member of the community. He served as Fire Police with the Elsmere Fire Department. He was past president of the Delmar Rotary Club; an active member of First United Methodist Church of Delmar; past president of Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce; a member of the American Legion, Blanchard Post 1040; a member of Bethlehem Lodge F&AM; and Normanside Country Club. Dick is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Fall) Haverly, and sons, Richard Jr.(Karen), William (Lisa) and Timothy; grandchildren, Tim Haverly, Christine Baumgart (Jared), Drew Haverly (Lauren) and Sam Haverly; great grandchildren, Madeline, Spencer and Livia Baumgart. He was predeceased by brother, Edward Haverly and sister, Betty Geurtze. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, February 16th from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A Memorial Service will be held 11 am Saturday, February 17th at First United Methodist Church of Delmar, 428 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Burial in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elsmere Fire Department or First United Methodist Church of Delmar.
