Richard Beach

DELMAR - Richard E. Beach, 103, passed away on June 14 at Bethlehem Commons Residential Care Center at Good Samaritan Village, surrounded by his family. Born in Binghamton, New York, he was the son of Floyd and Martha Beach. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 69 years, Leta Clapper Beach. Richard graduated from Clarkson University in 1933. He was honored by the college alumni when he turned 100. Richard, (Dick) worked for Niagara Mohawk, now National Grid, for over 30 years. His career went from a meter reader to a relay technician. He worked many hours at the Albany Steam plant when it was first built. Richard was a member of the Third Reformed Church in Albany. He served on various committees, including being a Deacon. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, hunting, and fishing. He also was an avid bridge player and bowler. He bowled in a senior league until he was 100 and honored at that time at Del Lanes. Richard is survived by a son; Donald R. Beach and his wife, Ellen of Guilderland, and a daughter, Janet B. Parsons and her husband, Gene, of New Milford, Connecticut. Grandchildren include: James Beach, Saratoga Springs, and wife Marcia; Donna Wissenbach, Delanson, and husband Dave; Lynn Ellis, Cicero, and husband Steve, Matthew Parsons, Colonial Heights, Virginia, and Deborah Bisaccia, Brookfield, Connecticut, and husband Leonard. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Angelena Sprague and Nicola Sherriffe for their caring abilities at the Good Samaritan facility as well as Mary Beth Bonafide of Hospice. A graveside ceremony for family and friends will be conducted at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Saturday, June 23 at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Third Reformed Church, Ten Eyck Avenue, Albany, or to The Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Road, Albany, NY 12205.
