Paul David Hoffmann, 72, of Delmar, NY, passed away on June 17, 2021 in Albany, New York.

Paul was born in New Jersey to Rose and John Hoffmann on October 25, 1948. Paul earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and had a long and dedicated career as a Lead Engineer in the Turbine Division of General Electric. Paul had many interests, accomplishments and enjoyments including building model airplanes and railroads, coaching youth soccer, competitive cycling, drumming, Tae Kwon Do, spaghetti and meatballs, and desserts. Paul qualified for the National Senior Games cycling race to be held in Fort Lauderdale in 2022 and was working to obtain his Pilot’s License.

Paul is survived by his spouse, Debra Hoffmann of Delmar, NY, his two sons, David (Natick, MA) and James (Scotia, NY), stepchildren Laura (Franklin, MA) and Josh (Pittsburgh, PA) and beloved grandchildren Thomas, Daniel, Amelia, Carina, and Leo .

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 3 to 5 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.  A memorial service will follow the visitation at 5 pm in the funeral home.

Paul had a special place in his heart for helping children and would ask his family and friends to donate to Boston Children’s Hospital in lieu of birthday or holiday gifts. To continue this tradition, memorial donations may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust online or at 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
