ALBANY - Patricia Ann Finn of Albany passed away on Wednesday October 2, 2013 after a valiant year long battle with cancer. Pat grew up in Waterford, CT and attended St. Bernard High School in Montville, CT. She attended Regis College in Boston, MA where she earned her BA in social work. It was here that she developed lifelong friendships with the "F Troop" who surrounded her with unconditional love and support and brought great joy into her life over the past year. Pat began her professional career as a release counselor at Mt. McGregor Correctional Center in Wilton, NY. She went on to become a social worker at Sun Mount Developmental Center in Tupper Lake, NY and then O.D. Heck Developmental Center in Schenectady. Pat is survived by her daughter, Jessica Lynn Whitford of Albany; Jessica's father, Elmer Whitford of Clifton Park; two sisters, Elizabeth Acevedo of Hartford, CT and Kathleen Finn of East Hampton, CT; two brothers, John Finn of Voorheesville and Fred Finn, Jr. of Waterford, CT and her stepmother and friend, Gretchen Finn of Saratoga Springs. She was predeceased by her parents Fred Finn, Sr. and Elizabeth Murphy Finn; her sister Mary Finn McKallagat; and her brother Thomas Patrick Finn. Pat adored her only daughter Jessica and cherished the times they vacationed together by the ocean. They began each day sharing a cup of coffee and ended each day with a hug and a kiss. Jessica will forever be protected by the light of her mother's love. Services are private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Food Pantries for the Capital District, 32 Essex St., Albany, NY 12208 and Community Hospice of Albany, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205.
