Mary Jane Hughes

1956 — December 29, 2011

DELMAR - Mary Jane Hughes, 55, of Delmar passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Mary Jane was born in Norwich, NY, the daughter of Sebastian and Caroline (Spadaro) DiNoto of Bainbridge, NY. She graduated from the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam in 1978. Mary Jane taught music at the Bethlehem Central Schools since 1982. She was the proud teacher of so many elementary string students and loved them all. Thank you to her colleagues at the school, the community for their compassion, churches for prayers, so many cards, letters, donations of food, rides to appointments - words cannot express what is felt at this time. The family wishes to thank Dr. Susan Weaver, Dr. Duncan Savage and Dr. Thomas Lovely and their staffs for trying their very best. In addition to her parents, Mary Jane is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Richard Hughes; daughter Sara Tribou, son in law Will and precious grandchild Emily Caroline of Watervliet; son, Joseph and daughter, Karen. Mary Jane was so proud of her children and promises to watch and guide them from heaven. She will miss her dear sisters Susan, Donna, Sandy, Caroline and Denise. She also leaves behind a large extended Italian family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 3 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.
