Marilyn J. Kroms

Oct 19, 1949 — May 30, 2026

Rotterdam

Marilyn Foote Kroms, 76, of Rotterdam, passed away with her family by her side on May 30, 2026, at Albany Medical Center.

Marilyn was born on October 19, 1949, in Plattsburgh, NY. She attended Beekmantown High School and later Hudson County Community College. She began her career as a dental hygienist before joining the New York State government in 1980, where she spent the next two decades in various management positions until her retirement as Office Manager with the New York State Senate for 13 additional years

Marilyn is survived by her sister Jill Foote Dignard (Ronald), nieces Renee Reimer (Douglas) and Elizabeth Knight (John) and her beloved great-nieces and great-nephew, Abigail, Sarah, Lydia Reimer, and Morgan, John and Taylor Knight, along with cousins in Glen Falls, NY and Rutland, VT.

She was predeceased by her parents Norman Crane Foote and Ruth Pardy Foote, and her husband of 30 years, Janis Kroms. Marilyn and Janis converted a Volkswagen van into a camper and were hooked instantly. They enjoyed traveling the country in their various recreational vehicles, visiting National Parks and attending stock car races.

Marilyn was a gifted artist and creative spirit who spent countless hours creating beautiful crafts such as painting, knitting, woodworking, and color-pencil drawings of landscapes, birds, portraits, and friends’ pets. Her family and friends will treasure her handmade gifts and greeting cards made with love.

After retirement, Marilyn spent her summers camping with dear friends on the Hudson River, near Warrensburg, NY. She especially enjoyed exploring the Adirondacks and Green Mountains with her best friend, Randy Paolo. With Randy’s guidance, she developed a passion for photography, capturing images of eagles and cardinals, which beautifully reflected her love for nature. They always made time for a car ride and a Michigan.

A service will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 2PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Marilyn's honor to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or a breast cancer charity of your choice.
