GLENMONT- Marilyn J. Benitez, 76, died Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at her home.
Born in Margaretville, NY she was the daughter of the late Robert and Wanda (Fuller) Wilson. Marilyn grew up in Andes, NY and lived in Hurley, West Hurley and for the past 30 years in Glenmont.
She trained to become a secretary at Delhi Agricultural and Technical Institute. Marilyn was employed at Union Carbide in Monroe, NY and at IBM in Kingston for 15 years. She finished her career as an executive secretary at Farm Family in Glenmont.
Marilyn enjoyed gardening and was an avid thoroughbred racing fan. She loved Cape Cod and visiting her son in California where she frequented Napa Valley and Carmel.
She is survived by her son Brian Majowitz of Amesbury, MA; daughter Amy (Paul) Scoffone of Cheshire, CT.; grandchildren Christopher and Eric Scoffone; siblings Fred (Donna) Wilson of AZ, Susie Gibson of Kingston, NY and Robert (Carol) Wilson of Roxbury, NY. Marilyn is also survived by her step-father Clarence Gibson of Kingston and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Marilyn was predeceased by her brother Billy Gibson and sister Donna McDonald.
Relatives and friends may call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar on Friday February 8, 2013 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11 am in the funeral home (Please note date and time change). Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
