With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Manuel Ador Dionisio Castillo Jr., 44 years old, who peacefully joined his Creator on November 20, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family and friends in Albany, New York. Born on March 24, 1980, in Quezon City, Philippines, Manuel, fondly known as “NUEL," was a beacon of light and warmth to all who knew him.
Nuel immigrated to the United States in 2012, carrying with him the rich traditions, strong faith, and enduring values of his Filipino heritage. A true example of selflessness and dedication, he devoted his life to serving others in his profession and community.
Nuel was a cherished husband to Lara Antonette Gampon Castillo and a devoted father to his three beloved children: Francis Wade (12), River Kyle (7), and Luna Grey (4). Though he lived thousands of miles away, Nuel's heart remained deeply connected to his family in the Philippines. He is survived by his loving parents, the late Manuel Sr. and Lolita Castillo, and his siblings, the late Roderick and Rachelle, Rosanna, and Rosemarie, along with their spouses and children. They will forever hold dear the memories of Nuel’s radiant smile, steadfast support, and boundless generosity.
Nuel was cherished for his kindred spirit, deep passion for basketball, and warm, welcoming hospitality. A devoted Kansas City Chiefs fan, he proudly cheered for his team at every game, passing on his love for football to his children. Whether sharing a simple meal of Filipino-style BBQ or hosting grand celebrations filled with family, friends, and laughter, his home radiated love, joy, and the mouthwatering aroma of home-cooked meals. His unwavering kindness left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those he touched, but his legacy of love, compassion, and dedication will forever live on in the lives of his family and friends.
Nuel’s wake will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024, from 2 PM to 8 PM at Applebee Funeral Home, Delmar, New York.
A memorial service will follow on Monday, November 25, 2024, at 9:30 AM, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Delmar, New York,
