Louise R. Saxe, 96, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at Teresian House in Albany, NY. Born on March 20, 1930, in Albany, NY, Louise led a life marked by steadfast faith, selfless service, and deep familial commitment.
A member of the Secular Franciscan Order for over three decades, Louise dedicated herself to caring for those in need, embodying the spirit of compassion central to her Catholic beliefs. Her devotion extended to her active participation in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Delmar, where she was a communicant and faithfully served as a lector for more than 30 years.
Louise’s passion for nurturing went beyond her spiritual duties. An avid gardener, she generously shared her abundant harvest by donating excess vegetables to those in need, fostering community welfare through simple acts of kindness. She also cherished taking leisurely walks with her husband and vacationing on Cape Cod.
Her greatest joy was her family. Louise was deeply dedicated to those she loved, a trait expressed most warmly through her love of cooking and hosting Sunday family dinners. Her family legacy continues through her children: Mary (Kevin) Ray, Charles J. Saxe, Louise (Keith) Haskins, James G. (Colleen) Saxe, Daniel F. (Michele) Saxe, and David M. Saxe. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Louise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles G. Saxe, as well as her parents, Rosario and Mildred L. (Suitto) Morreale. She was also the sibling of Anna L. (the late John) Boyle, Joan F. (the late Thomas) McCormack, and Charles V. (Margie) Morreale, all of whom survive her.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, April 13 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave, Delmar. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 14 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar. Burial will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands.
