Lorraine Van Bergen Remo, daughter of William and Mary Van Bergen, passed away peacefully in the arms of Jesus, on August 18, 2026, at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center.

She was born in Albany and was a resident of Delmar for 50 years. In 1973 during her graduation ceremony from Maria College, she received the College’s award for Nursing Excellence , thereafter, she became a registered nurse working at St. Peter’s hospital for over 20 years.

Lorraine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred J. Remo; her daughter, Gretchen Catherine Remo; and granddaughter, Gabrielle Mary Schaming. Lorraine was the mother of Deborah Vincent, Constance Shrier (Leonard) , Lorraine Irene Remo (Mark T. Fantauzzi), and Kerstin Schaming ( late Erich). She was a loving grandmother to Sarah Johnson, Matthew Vincent, Eleanor Shrier, Adam Shrier, Natasha Schaming Fiato, and Christian Remo. She is also survived by five great grandsons and four great granddaughters.

Lorraine was a communicant of Christ the King Church, and until its closing in 2005, she was a choir member and Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Angels Church.

Her family thanks the staff of Our Lady of Mercy Life Center and Community Hospice for the loving care they gave Lorraine.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, September 19 at 10 AM at Christ the King Church, 20 Sumter Ave., Albany, NY 12203. A brief ceremony will be given by the Nurses Honor Guard preceding the Mass. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Albany.
