DELMAR- Llewellyn "Lew" C. Hayes, 94, died peacefully in his sleep at his home on Sunday, March 6, 2016.
Born in Saranac, NY he was the son of the late Harold R. and Eva LaFountain Hayes and husband of the late Virginia "Ginny" Andrews Hayes.
A WWII Veteran he served in the US Army's 27th Division and the 11th Airborne Division. Lew was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans for over 60 years. He graduated from Albany Business College and the Devry Institute where he majored in electronics. Lew owned and operated his own electronics business, Tri-Village TV in Slingerlands for over 30 years.
He is survived by his children Bonnie H. Robbins of Delmar, Rev. Charles E. (Darlyne) Hayes of Henderson, NC and Dianne H. (Michael) DeVoe of Delmar; his grandchildren Don (Trish) Robbins, Jr.,Gary (Melissa) Robbins, Michelle Miraka, Danielle Hayes, Andrew Hayes and Braila Roy; his great-grandchildren Madison, JD, Kaitlyn, Nicholas and Angelina; his sisters Leitha Keddy and Cathy "Cleo" Williams; and his longtime dear friend Susan Stark. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife Lew was predeceased by his daughter Gail L. Hayes and siblings Herman, Russell and Bernard Hayes, Winifred Sweatt, Dorothy Moore, Pearl Douglas and Loretta Marinucci.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Thursday, March 10, from 4 to 7pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11, at 10am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar.
