Linda J. Krathaus

1962 — February 11, 2022

Linda Krathaus of Selkirk, NY, age 59, passed peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2022 after a brief illness at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY.

She was born March 2, 1962, in Buffalo, NY to the late Joan and James Krathaus. The family moved to Delmar, NY a few years later and Linda started her education in the Bethlehem Schools graduating high school in 1980. She returned to Buffalo for her college years graduating from Canisius College in Buffalo in 1984 where she realized her passion for teaching. After receiving a Master’s degree at St. Mary’s School for the Deaf in Buffalo, she returned to the Capital Region. Here, Linda dedicated her life to “her kids,” educating, nurturing, and empowering children and youth with hearing impairments, working primarily in the Rensselaer County and Kinderhook schools. She loved her students as her own.

Retirement from teaching meant more free time for Linda to pursue her hobbies and collections, spending quality time with her nieces whom she adored, or just meeting friends at the town park. Taking after her mother, whom she loved dearly, Linda became a discerning collector of specialty dolls, glass and other unique ephemera. She delighted in the more obscure and unusual finds, creating unique vignettes in her home that would provide her joy and laughter daily.

Linda is survived by her brother Alan Krathaus, his wife Fiona McGettigan and her two nieces Caoilin and Enya of Houston, Texas, who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her mother Joan Krathaus, and father Jim Krathaus, of Delmar NY.

There will be no services, but just good memories of Linda for all to share and reflect on.
