Joann V. DiBlasio

1941 — February 15, 2022

Joann V. DiBlasio, 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.

Born in Troy, NY she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Margaret Amelia (Wolfersheim) DiBlasio.  Jo grew up on Saratoga Lake at the family’s business, Saratoga Lake Marine and Supply. Jo graduated from the Russell Sage nursing program where she received her master’s degree in nursing.  Jo taught LPN nursing at Albany Medical Center early in her career.  Jo later worked at area hospitals as a Registered Nurse, and then found a passion combining nursing with administrative responsibilities, and worked for New York State as an administrator in healthcare until retiring.

Jo had a love of laughter and a special feistiness that was her trademark. She always brought a smile. Jo greatly enjoyed time with family and friends, gathering for meals and celebrations, Mahjong games and outings to Saratoga Race Track. Jo loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Alaska, Cape Cod, Maine as well and Manhattan to see Broadway shows.  She loved dogs and often attended the annual Westminster Dog Show.

She is survived by her brother, Alfonzo DiBlasio (Fonz); sister-in-law, Sheryl Cummings; dear friend, Barbara Smith; and her sisterhood of nurses and many dear friends.

There will be no services planned at this time at Jo’s request. A celebration of Jo’s life will be held at a date to be announced.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless, 176 Sheridan Ave., Albany, NY  12210 (

) in honor of Sister Mavis Jewel the founder of IPH.
