Janet Marie Snay, a beloved mother, devoted friend, and an extraordinary soul, graced this world with her presence from March 29, 1937, until January 3, 2026. Born in Albany and living a life intertwined with the warmth of family and community, Janet departed peacefully at Albany Medical Center, surrounded by her cherished family and loved ones.

A proud graduate of Albany High School, Janet dedicated her professional life to serving others. As an Executive Secretary at Albany Medical Center and a sales executive at JC Penney, she found profound joy in weaving stories into the fabric of her daily work. Janet had an uncanny ability to connect with people, making even the briefest encounter feel like a lasting friendship. Her love for helping customers find clothes that made them feel special was more than just a job; it was her calling. For Janet, no one was a stranger; everyone was welcomed as family.

A woman of faith, Janet lived each day with grace and conviction, emanating a soothing warmth that was felt by all fortunate enough to cross her path. She was renowned for her radiant smile and open-hearted nature, embodying the very essence of kindness. This spirit thrived in her relationships, especially with her dearest daughter, Dawn—her best friend, confidante, and partner in countless adventures. Together they forged memories that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew them, particularly during the lively New Year’s Day parties Janet so lovingly orchestrated, where she believed family should gather to embrace the start of the new year together.

Her life was not only filled with the love of family but also enriched by her commitment to serving others. Janet's proudest accomplishments included volunteering to feed the homeless, teaching Sunday school at her church, and inspiring those around her through her selfless acts of kindness. In her younger days, she showcased her creative talents by designing and sewing her clothes, earning accolades and awards for her outstanding customer service and unwavering dedication to those she served.

Janet leaves behind a tapestry of love comprised of her daughter Dawn Snay and cherished family members Joy and Joe Pierle, Barbara and Richard Hunt, Barbara and Vic Isca, Pam and Gregory Hunt, Stacey  and Michael Allen, and Joe and Paige Pierle. She is also survived by adopted family Rick Bedrosian, Dan Samson and  Diane Arduini and Wendy Dury Samson, whom she embraced as daughters, celebrating the bond of sisterhood in spirit.

Though her parents, Walter and Ethel Berg, her brother Walter Berg, and her sister Marjorie Hunt, have passed from this world, they remain forever intertwined in the fabric of her legacy.
