Janet H. Rose

Janet Elizabeth Hodecker Rose, 93, of Slingerlands, passed away on April 19, 2026.

Born in Pittsfield, Mass. on March 15, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry and Rose (Marty) Hodecker. Janet was a graduate of Pittsfield High School and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She taught in public schools and volunteered in the communities where she lived.

She was predeceased by her husband, Clayton E. Rose, Jr., to whom she was lovingly married for 67 years. They were married on June 19, 1954, at the South Congregational Church in Pittsfield.

Janet was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Albany. She enjoyed spending time at their home in Cape Cod and attending the activities of her children and grandchildren.

Janet is survived by a son, Andrew C. (Ann) Rose of Delmar and daughter, Karen R. Gonon of West Orange, NJ. She also leaves three grandchildren, Jason A. Rose of Phoenix, AZ, Jessie C. Gonon of New Orleans, LA, James P. Gonon of West Orange, NJ, as well as four nephews, three nieces and several dear friends.

Her family expresses sincere thanks to the staff at Community Hospice and to the caring aides who attended to her in her final days: Veshma, Anshu, Savita, Banita and Malisa.

The burial service will be private and donations in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">American Cancer Society, Community Hospice or a charity of one's choice.
