GLENMONT - James J. Weiler, 77, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany on December 25, 1934, he was the son of the late Edwin and Lillian (Peeney) Weiler. Jim honorably served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and later attended college in San Diego before returning home. He retired after a long career as an electronics engineer at Atlantic Cement in Ravena. Jim was a lifelong accomplished pianist and a golf enthusiast. He is survived by his beloved companion, Ruth Nowell; sons, Steven and Paul (Cindy) Weiler; brother, Robert (Barbara) Weiler; sister, Joan Gertz; grandchildren, Annie and Megan Weiler; two nieces and two nephews, several great-nieces and nephews, many friends and business associates. A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Saturday morning beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albany. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, 33 Everett Rd, Albany, NY 12205.
