James L. Brockley

July 4, 1951 — April 16, 2026

Lake George, NY

James Leo Brockley of Lake George, NY, known to many as Brock, came into this world with a bang on July 4th 1951 and passed away peacefully on April 16 in his home surrounded by family. Being born on the Fourth of July became one of his defining characteristics. He claimed he was his “own Jim Dandy” and that it was the reason his eyes were “red, white, and blue.”

He was the beloved son of the late James C. and Helen Brockley.

Brock was raised in Delmar, NY where he lived on and off for many years. Just after high school he journeyed to Colorado to explore his love for skiing and adventure. He lived a few years in Pittsfield, MA before returning to the Capital District and eventually settling in his favorite place on earth, Lake George, NY. Before moving to Lake George, later in life, he spent numerous summers there from a young age.

Throughout his life, Brock was known for his master craftsmanship. He had a remarkable ability to build, fix, or create just about anything. When he wasn’t working with his hands he enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading, spending time with friends at his favorite local spots, and could often be found at Christie’s Window. He also never missed a Sunday morning Mass at Cronin’s Golf Resort. There was never a dull moment when Brock was around.

He is survived by his daughter Alicia LeBuis, who he was very proud to have raised as a single father, her husband Greg, and his cherished grandsons Paddy and Seamas LeBuis. Additionally, he is survived by his daughters Kayla and Brianna Brockley, his many siblings Judy Steiner, Richard Brockley, Bob (Patty) Brockley, Patricia Brockley, Susan Matthews, Cathy (Lawson) Taylor, and Tom (Daryn) Brockley, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Brock will be remembered for his humor, his stories, his Irish Goodbyes, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew and loved him. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Mike LaFrank (a.k.a. FB) for his unwavering love and support throughout their many years of friendship, as well as Doc Greenhouse for his special care, friendship and guidance throughout the years and especially these last few months.

Calling hours will be Thursday, April 23rd from 4 to 7 pm at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 24th at 10:00 am at St Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar with a burial immediately following at Bethlehem Cemetery 286 Kenwood Avenue Delmar, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Brock’s name to the Lake George American Legion Post #374, P.O. Box 267, Lake George, NY 12845 or the Lake George Association at lakegeorgeassociation.org.
