Geraldine M. Hausmann

1936 — March 17, 2015

GLENMONT - Geraldine M. Hausmann (Kitty Grandma), 78, died on March 17th, 2015, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Peacefully transitioning to a better place. The past ten years Geri dealt with many health issues but never lost her spitfire spark and never complained. Even in her hardest of moments she never gave up, always putting her family first. Born on May 14th 1936, in Albany, she was educated in Albany Schools. Geri resided in Glenmont NY until the time of her death. She and her husband James W. Hausmann, Sr. built their home together in Glenmont fifty-five years ago. Geri worked for the NYS Thruway for twenty plus years and retired in 1999. Geri was an avid reader, loved to be in Florida at the beach with her family, always had a project she was working on (which always involved her kids and grandkids) and in recent years enjoyed her garden. Throughout her life always her main priority was her family. Her sweet and simple demeanor won the trust and hearts of many. She had no awards, or special recognitions to mention – She put it best herself when asked about her life. "I have loved and I have been loved. That is what it is all about." Geraldine M. Hausmann – March 2015. Your Family loves you and will miss you but we always remember that when you said "I Love you more" you truly meant it. She is predeceased by her husband James W. Hausmann, Sr.; her parents John Macken and Catherine Clush, her brother John Macken, her nephew Kevin Macken, her sister in law Rebecca Macken, and her grandchildren Amy and Jeffrey Hausmann. Survivors include six children , Joyce (Alan) Carpenter of Englewood, FL; James (Donna) Hausmann of Averill Park; John (Amie) Hausmann of Schoharie; Joann Stannard (Chuck) of Glenmont; Geraldine (Dennis) Dottino of Clarksville and Jennifer (Peter) Mizener of Voorheesville. Her grandchildren, Josh (Jennifer), Nicole (Dom), Stephen, Jason (Nikki), Scot, Matt, Jackie, Sean, Adam, Ryan and Rachel. Two great grandchildren Isabella (Bella) and Adriana and one on the way. Other survivors include two brothers, James (Arlene) and William Macken both from FL, step-sisters Cindy and Kathy, a sister-in-law Pat Macken, and several nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her many longtime special friends. Special thanks to the Bethlehem Senior Projects staff that drove her to dialysis on a weekly basis and the kind and caring staff at the Albany Dialysis Center. Relatives and friends may call on Friday, March 20th from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar.
