Dr. Romeo R. Bocala, Jr.

Dr. Romeo R. Bocala, Jr. passed away on Friday, May 8, 2026, in Albany, New York. He was born on March 28, 1943, in Capiz, Philippines.

Dr. Bocala’s medical career began with a Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine, and later a Pediatric Cardiologist in Fargo, North Dakota, a Pediatrician for the Children’s Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio, a Neonatologist at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, and a physician for the Albany City School District. 

Dr. Bocala is survived by his beloved wife, Dr. Estrella Esguerra-Bocala. Together, they nurtured and supported a close-knit family, which includes their children: daughter Candice Bocala (Keith Hartlen), and sons Peter Bocala and Robert Bocala and his cherished granddaughter, Emilia Hartlen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am, Friday, May 15, 2026, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl. Delmar.
