Derek Jaziel Soto Davila, 9, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 with his loving parents by his side.
Derek was born in Troy, NY on June 20, 2012 to Benjamin Soto and Ana M. Davila. He is also survived by his beloved sister, Celiann Soto Davila and a loving extended family. Derek was a smart, sweet boy who was always smiling. He was full of life and loved to dance. Derek loved numbers, maps and national flags and could identify a country just by seeing its silhouette. He brought joy to everyone he met and will be missed by all who knew him.
Derek’s family would like to thank the caregivers at Community Hospice, Dr. Joanne Porter and her team and the teachers and staff at Hamagrael School for their loving support.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, October 4 from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be conducted 10 am Tuesday, October 5 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions in Derek’s name may be made to Joy from Joseph Inc. (123 Abbey Road Poestenkill NY 12140) and/or Albany Med Foundation - The Journeys Program (
