Dennis M. Turner

Dennis M. Turner, 76, born June 10, 1950, in Albany, NY, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2026.  

A proud graduate of RCS High School, Dennis continued his education at Lafayette College, where he earned a degree in Psychology. Although his academic pursuits gave him a broad perspective on life, Dennis found his true calling working with his hands and building for others. He dedicated his professional life to construction, spending many years with Geurtze Builders in Delmar. His skills were evident in every project he undertook, and his dedication to quality spoke volumes about his character.

Beyond his career, Dennis enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He was passionate about woodworking and took great joy in gardening, pursuits that reflected his appreciation for both craftsmanship and nurturing growth. These hobbies allowed him to express creativity and foster a sense of peace outside of work.

Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bette A. (Buehler) Turner. Bette was a SUNY Potsdam graduate who majored in Spanish and gave many years of devoted service as a secretary at Main Care in Delmar and later at Bethlehem Central High School, where she worked for 20 years until her retirement in 2005. Dennis was also predeceased by his parents, Milton Turner and Eleanor (Payne) Turner.

He is survived by his loving sister, Gwen Priester, and her husband, Ron. He will be fondly remembered by his niece, Amy LaPorte, and her spouse, Ken, and their son, Gregory.

Services for Dennis will be held privately at the convenience of the family.  Contributions in his memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (stjude.org) or Victory Junction (victoryjunction.org).
