DELMAR – Charlene A. Sykora (Bonesteel), mother, grandmother, wife, sister, aunt, friend and queen list-maker, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017.
Charlene was predeceased by her loving husband Don. Charlene was an avid history buff of Albany who adored William Kennedy, anything Old Albany and growing up on Elk Street. The best place to find Char was in her recliner reading a good mystery book. She loved libraries, learning, and leaves. Fall was Char's favorite time especially while taking scenic drives through the mountains. Always willing to plan a trip, Charlene embraced her travel days and her friends who journeyed with her.
As a mother, grandmother and aunt, Charlene was a fierce advocate, the best supporter and constant fan of her family and all their accomplishments. Charlene was a proud graduate of HVCC, retired NYS employee, past member of the Coeymans Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, the Red Hatters and the Hibernians. Being Irish and going to the Albany St. Patrick's Parade were favorite parts of her life.
She is survived by sons John (Cynthia) Sobiecki and Steve (Danna) Sobiecki; grandchildren, Emily Sobiecki (Brian Strunk), Alex Sobiecki (Hannah Keehan), Marly, Jenna and Tori Sobiecki; adored sister Carolyn Malone; cherished nieces and nephews Mollie Eads (Don), Michael Malone and Mark Malone, loving cousins Ann Jann, Barbara Flayter, many beloved grand-nieces, grand-nephews, cousins and her special life long friends.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff and community of Kenwood Manor at Good Samaritan Village where Charlene lived and loved activities, game nights and her friends.
