Antoinette (Toni) Amenta, 92, passed away on August 4, 2025. Knowing she lived a full life, she chose to leave this world on her own terms by choosing comfort so she could join her beloved husband of 50 years, Michael J. Amenta, and her son, Michael A. Amenta, who predeceased her. Antoinette was the oldest child of the late Anna and Felix Florio.
As a child, she lived in a multigenerational home in Pelham Bay, the Bronx, where she was blessed with strong relationships with the women in her family. She is a graduate of Wharton High School. Growing up with a family of Yankee fans, she developed a love of baseball and other sports. Antoinette played basketball with the CYO team that won the NYC girls' high school championship at the old Madison Square Garden.
Following high school, Antoinette Amenta attended CCNY to study accounting, where she met her future husband, Michael, and dear friends, the Associates. Antoinette and Michael enjoyed raising their family in Port Washington and lived on Long Island until 2004. There she became a dedicated NY Mets fan. Antoinette also developed a passion for golf, which was highlighted by two hole-in-ones.
She enjoyed helping people in her careers in banking and as a travel consultant.
Antoinette was extremely strong in meeting life challenges with strength and courage. The family was a priority to Antoinette. Life centered around enjoying and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren. Antoinette loved celebrating holidays, socializing with friends, and playing bridge. She and Michael felt very fortunate that they were able to travel throughout the US and the world.
Antoinette is survived by her daughters Marie (Bob) Dolfi and Theresa (Chris) Mooney; daughter-in-law, Kristina Amenta; four grandchildren Tom (Lauren) Dolfi, Annemarie Dolfi, Caroline Mooney, and Catherine Mooney, and a great grandson, Jack Dolfi; her sister Catherine (Louie) Greco, brother Joe (Ginny) Florio, and numerous nieces and nephews. Antoinette will be missed by the dear friends whom she made throughout her life.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Beverwyck who helped her to live independently, as well as the caring staff at St. Peter’s Hospital who were amazing in her final days.
