DELMAR - Anthony J. Morrell, 81, died March 9, 2016. Born in Albany, New York, August 26, 1934, he was the son of Anthony and Helen Martino Morrell. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Daile Richardson Morrell, his children David and Victoria (Seymour) Morrell, Tom and Susan (Morrell) Meyer, and Robert and Jennifer(Beirne) Morrell, his grandchildren Margaret and Daniel Morrell, Katherine, Erin, and Meghan Meyer, and Sophia and Heather Morrell, and his siblings Angela Mudge, Virginia Morrow, and Theodore Morrell. He is predeceased by his infant son Gary, and his parents Anthony and Helen. He was educated in the Ravena Coeymans Schools. Tony worked for the Dairyman's League Cooperative, Albany County Health Department, and as a Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of Bethlehem until he retired in 1992. Tony was an active member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church of Delmar where he served as a Eucharistic minister. He cherished his family and spending time with them. He also enjoyed reading, the Adirondacks, fishing, summers in Cape Cod, volunteering for the Bethlehem Seniors, and most importantly, being a member of the Elsmere Volunteer Fire Department since 1962, where he served as Chief, and most recently Commissioner. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar. A funeral mass will be celebrated 9:30 am Monday at the Church. Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery, Delmar. Donations in Tony's memory can be made to the Kevin M. Shea Memorial Fund, care of Elsmere Volunteer Fire Department, 15 West Poplar Dr., Delmar, NY 12054 or St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Pl., Delmar, NY 12054.
