Anthony Keith Hinman, formerly of Delmar and Bolton Landing, N.Y., died Thursday, November 20, 2025, after a brief illness, one day before his 90th birthday.
Born in Albany's Pine Hills neighborhood, Tony later moved to Fayetteville, N.Y., for high school. His family's vacation home in Bolton Landing, overlooking Lake George, became the center of decades of gatherings filled with barbecues, swimming, and boating. He met his wife, Thomasina, through skiing, and they married in 1967, raising their children, David and Sarah, while continuing to spend all seasons at "the Lake."
He graduated from St. Lawrence University, earned a master's degree in Public Administration from the State University of New York, and spent nearly forty years with the SUNY Construction Fund, including work as a construction project manager.
Tony is survived by his son, David Hinman (Karen); daughter, Sarah Hinman Ryan (Geoffrey); sister, Joyce Butterfield (Whitney); and many much-loved cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Thomasina (d. 2013); his parents, Harold F. and Vera (Burns) Hinman; his sister, Debbie Cullinan; and many cherished animal companions, including Rocket, Allie, and Captain Jack the donkey.
Calling hours will be from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, at Applebee Funeral Home (403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar, N.Y. 12054), with a short service at 1 p.m. Interment at Albany Rural Cemetery will take place in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society (https://www.mohawkhumane.org).
