It is with great sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved brother, Andrew “Drew” John Kendrick, of Delmar, New York, at the age of 64.
Drew was born on September 30, 1959, in Albany, New York, to Carroll “Pat” Joseph Kendrick, Jr., and Anne B. Kendrick. He attended Bethlehem Central schools.
Growing up, Drew loved spending summer weekends at his parents’ camp at Sacandaga Lake, where he enjoyed boating, fishing, and evenings around the campfire with family and friends. His favorite times were spent playing and biking with his brothers and sisters, and working on cars with his dad.
Drew was a die-hard Mets fan, and rarely missed watching a game on TV. He enjoyed a trip to Citi Field in New York City, and was thrilled to attend Mets spring training games in Florida earlier this year.
Although Drew lived with physical challenges, he never complained, and this did not deter him from his passions; riding his mobility scooter, attending family gatherings, having dinner out, playing weekly trivia, relaxing at the town pool, and walking his cherished dog, Murphy.
Drew was truly a joy to be around with his infectious smile, his innocent kindness, and his gentle demeanor. He was honest and warm-hearted, friendly and open. It was impossible not to smile when watching him laugh so hard that tears brimmed his eyes.
Drew leaves behind his loving siblings Patrick Kendrick (Beth Williams), Michael Kendrick (Kailash), Maureen Teaney, and Carol Stuart; and treasured nieces and nephews Matthew and Ethan Kendrick, Nicole and Ryan Teaney, and Melissa and Sean Stuart. He is also survived by his cousins the Deragons, and the Stevens-Rainis families. Drew is predeceased by his beloved parents.
The family will receive visitors from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 5, at Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Avenue, Delmar. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday, September 6, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 35 Adams Place, Delmar.
Interment will be at Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery, Glenmont.
