Obituary of Marion M Barrett

SLINGERLANDS - Marion m. Barrett, age 93, passed away on January 12, 2015 in Albany, New York. Born in Sheridan, Wyoming and growing up in Colorado, Minnesota and Virginia, she is predeceased by her husband, Donald Barrett. A longtime reference librarian in Indiana, she retired and came to live with family in New York. She is survived by her ten children: Edward, Mary, Donald, Loretta, Virginia, William, Catherine, Joanne, Joseph and Sara along with their spouses. She is also survived by her 30 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Known to family and close friends simply as "B", Marion was a devout Catholic, always praying two rosaries daily for peace on earth and for whoever might need God's help. She enjoyed fishing, hiking, listening to Western novels and eating classic American cuisine. She also amassed an impressive collection of classical and folk music with the help of her children. A wake service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 6:30pm in the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, prior to the service beginning at 4pm. Additional services and burial will be held in Notre Dame, IN. In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Marion may make memorial donations to Blessed Sacrament School, 605 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206
