Obituary of Robert G. Johnson
SOUTH BETHLEHEM- Robert Gerden Johnson, 83, of South Bethlehem, passed away Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Albany Memorial Hospital.
Born and raised in Schenectady, Bob attended the Nott Terrace High School and SUNY Cobleskill where he studied Animal Husbandry. He worked for 30 years at Atlantic Cement, Ravena retiring in the early 1990's and was a former president of Local 429 United Cement, Lime and Gypsum Workers. In later years, he became an Antique Dealer with his wife Kathy. He will be remembered for the tea roses he enjoyed growing. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Col. Gerden F. and Emily L. (Schuler) Johnson and wife, Barbara M. (Graham) Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine (Kendall) Johnson; son, Andrew G. Johnson (Donna) of Grafton; sister, Ruth Yensen of Vero Beach, FL; grandchildren, Rebecca and Michael Johnson of Niskayuna; step-children, Juanita Normann, George, Morey and Douglas (Amy) Anderson; and step-grandchildren , Emily, Paige and Ethan.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday, November 24th from 4 to 7 pm at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 25th at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Northville. Memorial contributions may be made to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
